What does “come off” mean?

by on September 6, 2010

English isn’t my native language, and I don’t understand the following sentence.

“Sonya Thomas was coming off a baked bean victory days before in Indiana, where she consumed 8.4 pounds of beans with pork in 2 minutes and 47 seconds.”

What does “coming off” mean?

I also don’t know what “before in Indiana” means. I undertstand what “a baked bean victory days” or “a baked bean victory days in Indiana” means. But I have no idea what “a baked bean victory days [before] in Indiana” means.

What does “come off” mean?
