god

This generation seems to have a special tag on it. Suicide – that odd thing people do to end a life – ranks as the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 15 and 19. every day, 11 people between the ages of 15 and 24 commit suicide. the fastest growing age group for suicide is between 10 and 14 years old. the majority of adolescents who die by suicide use a firearm. More young men take their lives than young women.

However, for every male suicide, three females will attempt to take their lives. Despite these alarming statistics, God is more than capable of changing them. Satan is out to destroy this generation. he is deceiving young people into thinking that suicide is the answer to their problems. It’s not the solution; it’s only a way to lure you to an early grave. the answer to any situation comes from the Word, and it’s up to you to arm yourself with scriptures to beat the Devil at his game. It’s the only way that you can live your life to the fullest.

The Devil doesn’t want you to impact anyone’s life. he hates you because he hates who you represent: Jesus. As a result, he will always try to trick you into doing something that will ultimately harm you. he clouds your thinking so that you end up making bad choices. that way, he can destroy your witness as well as your self-esteem.

Satan knows that you were created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27). he also knows that if you would stand in the authority that has been given to you in Christ, you could dominate your circumstances and rule and reign in every area of your life. because of your godly identity and potential, he wants to stop you at all costs.

The word, dominate, means to influence, control or rule by superior power or authority; to have dominion, supreme authority or control. God gave you the ability to control your own destiny by giving you the power to choose. Life is choice-driven (Deuteronomy 30:19); you live and die by the choices that you make. that means you have the ability to succeed, live out loud and dominate Satan by taking full authority over all of his wicked works, including depression, suicide, loneliness, negative words and feelings of worthlessness.

The Bible says that you will reap a harvest from the words that you speak. you have the ability to speak life over yourself. There are rimes when you will have to counteract what the enemy is saying to or about you by speaking what God says in His Word about you. you will also have to remind yourself that you are beautiful, capable and able to do anything, because you have God’s ability within you. you will have to remind Satan that you are not a failure. It’s up to you to release life from your lips by declaring God’s Word in faith.

Death and life are in the power of your tongue, and you’ll eat the fruit of your lips any day. Similarly, you are a dominator, not a victim. you must live out loud so that the world can see the outer manifestation of the fruit of God’s greatness inside of you.

Jesus, the greatest man to live on planet earth, chose to live out loud and make an impact on all those who were around him. As a result, there are millions of people around the world today living out loud because of the example he set.

Imagine where the world would be today if Jesus had given up after all of the things that he had faced. I don’t know about you, but I don’t even want to imagine it because of Christ, you have been redeemed from the curse of death – it has no power over you. Choose today to walk in your redemption and don’t allow the enemy to trick you any longer.

Happiness is not an accident; nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is something you design and create. So make a decision to live your life out loud

Suicide – The Devil’s Alternative

Update, May 16, 12:45 PM: Pacquiao has since clarified that the statements were misattributed. "I didn't say that, that's a lie I didn't know that quote from Leviticus because I haven't read the Book of Leviticus yet." Manny Pacquiao: not a big fan

Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is criticizing President Barack Obama's personal endorsement of same-sex marriage, calling it offensive to God.

Under Armour founder and owner Kevin Plank will have a horse in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes, the second of three legs in the Triple Crown.

According to a Businessweek article, Plank bought a 530-acre training and breeding facility, Sagamore Farm, in 2007. since then, he’s been investing time and money into producing a champion.

The article goes on to say,

After spending millions of dollars to refurbish the farm, Plank is poised to take the next step in his bid to restore Maryland’s rich racing tradition.

Having already produced a Breeder’s Cup winner and a Belmont Stakes entrant at Sagamore Farm, Plank will enter Tiger Walk in Saturday’s Preakness. his ultimate goal, however, is to develop a Triple Crown winner.

Plank figures Maryland, and Sagamore Farm in particular, is as good a place as any to breed the next great horse.

“I don’t think there’s anybody that owns the right,” he said. “We haven’t had a Triple Crown winner in 33 years. what other sport hasn’t named a legitimate champion in 33 years? so that is far overdue, and no one in Kentucky has done it. These aren’t God-given rights limited to growing up in Kentucky. Maryland has that kind of history with Man of War, War Admiral, Native Dancer. so why not us?”

Plank’s most famous — or infamous — connection to Maryland thus far is the design under Armour cooked up for the Terrapins’ football jerseys last season. Plank went to the University of Maryland.

The Preakness is celebrating its 137th year. For additional information, check out the Preakness home page. a list of horses is available here.

Jennifer Lawrence’s first audition for ‘The Hunger Games’ ”floored” director Gary Ross, who thought it was ”ridiculously” good.

Jennifer Lawrence’s first audition for ‘The Hunger Games’ ”floored” director Gary Ross.

The helmer thought the 21-year-old beauty’s first try out for the movie – which sees her play Katniss Everdeen – was so good it was ”ridiculous” and it allowed him to envisage what the finished motion picture could look like.

He said: ”It floored me. I could see the whole movie, forgetting about casting Jen. I saw, ‘Oh, my God, not only is this going to work, but it’s going have nuance and colours that I couldn’t even imagine.’ ”

Gary believes such talent as the blonde beauty possesses only comes around ”once a generation”, and he respects that she is ”more interested” in starring in movies than being a celebrity.

He added to CBS News: ”The thing about Jennifer, she has such a depth of talent and such an accomplished actor, she’s more interested in being an actor than being famous.

”I think she’s once a generation.”

Jennifer Lawrence – Jennifer Lawrence ‘Floored’ Hunger Games Director

All they Want is a good Show

That The Hunger Games is so timely and intelligent is precisely the reason why it’s also so frightening. it depicts a time and place in which the failures of mass society are exploited for the entertainment of the privileged few. In this case, it’s in the form of an annual competition to the death, one that’s captured via hidden cameras and aired for the rest of the world to see. whatever they call it in this alternate reality, it would be called reality TV in ours. Thank God, we have not devolved to the point of watching people kill each other. We have, however, sunk to some pretty low depths. We celebrate people like Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsay, who achieve notoriety by being bullies. We watch as groups of men or women vie for a marriage proposal from a woman or man they know nothing about. We witness Kim Kardashian earn millions for doing nothing, apart from looking beautiful.

Adapted from the novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games is set in an unspecified future time, at which point a new nation has developed from the wreckage of North America. This nation is presided over by the Capitol, where the rich and powerful flaunt themselves with highly advanced technologies and outlandish fashion choices. the rest of the nation is divided into twelve districts, where the people live in squalor and are essentially slave labor for their respective natural resources. An unsuccessful uprising seventy years ago resulted in the destruction of a thirteenth district. as punishment, one boy and girl from each district, both between the ages of twelve and eighteen, is chosen by raffle each year to participate in the Hunger Games, a competition in which the contestants fight each other in a forested arena. the winner is the one still alive at the end.

In District 12, we meet sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), a skilled archer and hunter who has cared for her little sister, Primrose (Willow Shields), and her mother (Paula Malcomson) since the death of their father some years earlier. When representatives of the Capitol come to town, Primrose is selected as the female contestant – or tribute, as they’re known in this alternate reality. Katniss, desperate to save her sister, volunteers to take her place. the male tribute is Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who harbors a crush on Katniss and once showed her an act of kindness. They’re both escorted to the Capitol by the preening, clown-faced Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), where, before the games begin, they’re shown luxury the likes of which they’ve never seen.

Along with a good deal of physical training, Katniss and Peeta are given a personal stylist named Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) and an advisor named Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), a disheartened drunk. they make it clear that survival depends in large part on personality; the more hearts they win over, the more likely they are to receive food and aid from sponsors. they also stress that all the people want is a good show. Indeed, all tributes are paraded in the town square to cheering throngs of thousands. They’re even greeted by the President (Donald Sutherland), who secretly knows that the real reason the Hunger Games exist at all is the give District viewers the illusion of hope. all tributes are dolled up and flaunted on a flashy reality show hosted by the flamboyant Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci), whose white teeth gleam along with his sequined jacket.

Once the tributes are physically lifted into the arena, the story abandons hype and celebrity in favor of a brutal, desperate battle for survival, one that’s highly disturbing but no less compelling. although director Gary Ross doesn’t shy away from depicting the deaths of young people, he refrains from being gratuitous, and for that, he deserves a great deal of credit. This is not about tasteless gore effects and the exploitation of faceless teens; we’re actually made to care about these characters so that, when they die, it elicits a genuine emotional reaction. It’s not easy to watch, but then again, it isn’t supposed to be. Imagine what it must be like for the District populations. They’re forced to watch as someone’s son, daughter, brother, or sister is murdered as a form of mass entertainment.

Katniss and Peeta are enamoring characters, mostly because they learn to survive without sacrificing their humanity. with Katniss, we see this through her bond another tribute, a twelve-year-old girl named Rue (Amandla Stenberg). with Peeta, we see this through his growing affection for Katniss. It’s precisely because of them that the people behind the scenes devise a number of rating-boosting strategies, including a last-minute rule change I will not give away. I suppose one could consider The Hunger Games an enjoyable movie, although I believe it’s intended to be something more than that. it tells a story that’s so deeply troubling and yet so remarkably insightful. it makes some valid points, not just on the state of what passes for entertainment nowadays, but also on society, politics, and the capacity for hope in dark times.

Apparently, Geraldo Rivera didn’t just offend African-Americans and Latinos by blaming the killing of an unarmed black teenager on the hoodie he was wearing.

He says his 32-year-old son Gabriel is ashamed of the comment he made on Fox News Friday.

"My own son just wrote to say he’s ashamed of my position," Rivera tweeted on Friday.

"Gabriel broke my heart – he just told me for the first time in his life he’s ashamed," he told the political website Politico.

On Friday’s edition of Fox and Friends, Rivera said, "I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly not to let their children go out wearing hoodies. I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as much as George Zimmerman was."

Martin, 17, was shot and killed Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., by Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighbourhood watch volunteer. Zimmerman was not arrested because police said there was no evidence to contradict his claim that he fired in self-defence, the LA Times said.

"Trayvon Martin, God bless him, an innocent kid, a wonderful kid, a box of Skittles in his hands. he didn’t deserve to die. But I bet you money, if he didn’t have that hoodie on, that nutty neighbourhood watch guy wouldn’t have responded in that violent and aggressive way," Rivera is quoted as saying in the LA Times.

In an article in the Washington Post, Alexandra Petri criticized Rivera’s position.

"Clothes may make the man. But they don’t make you kill the man. It’s your inability to see that there’s a person under them that does," she said.

The teen’s death and the lack of an arrest have sparked protests and inspired a Million Hoodie March in several U.S. cities.

Thousands marched in Philadelphia on Friday, many sporting hoodies in support of Martin.

"As long as [Zimmerman] is outside of the court system, the protests will intensify and spill over into other dimensions," the Rev. Jesse Jackson told the LA Times Friday. "His lack of appearance in the court system is a source of embarrassment and humiliation. he needs to face the court."

  • The 10 Players at Every NFL Combine

    by on February 24, 2012

Half man, half Quadruple D breasts, he decided to show up to the NFL Combine in the worst shape of his life. For some reason, to the disgust of us all, the combine directors make him take his shirt off. Probably because the shirt he was wearing was covered in hoagie sauce.

How his career will end up: Wildly successful. After everyone stops retching over the sight of his naked torso, they’ll remember that being morbidly obese is kind of a prerequisite for playing a lineman position in the NFL.

All was going well for him. he had a great college football career. Won awards. Was respected by his teammates and coaches. Was thought to be an early round pick. but then … oh, god, it’s almost too horrible to say … but then … his 40 time was 0.03 seconds slower than what is considered ideal for his position. You should go kill yourself, fella.

How his career will end up: After plummeting down the draft, he will be some team’s mid-round “value pick” and — shock of all shocks — turn into a very solid professional football player. although, there will be that one tackle he’ll miss in Week 7 of his sixth season that was probably due to him being 0.03 seconds too slow.

No one ever heard of this guy. Overlooked by most in college because he wasn’t so good with catching or route-running (or pass coverage or tackling) or discipline or character or really anything that makes a good football player. Then he lined up to run the 40 at the NFL Combine and — in a blistering 4.2 seconds — became a future Hall of Famer.

How his career will end up: out of football after a few years with the Raiders.

This guy’s Vertical Jump and Bench Press and Broad Jump will leaves scouts’ mouths agape. What a specimen! What an athlete! this guy is God’s perfect football creation!

How his career will end up: After four disappointing years on a roster before the coaches give up teaching him how to play football, he will become a personal trainer.

The NFL Combine measurables are the same for everyone: height and weight, the six physical tests — 40, bench, vertical jump, broad jump, shuttle run, and 3-cone drill — and the Wonderlic. The same for everyone but this guy, that is. Because no one will care so much about how he performs — they’re looking at the way he performs.

Did he seem to give his all in that 3-cone drill?

Did he make eye contact with the man checking his height?

How did he react to hearing his 40 time?

Did his broad jump show heart?

The “Character Issues” Guy’s job at the Combine is to take a bullshit exam with no right answers.

How his career will end up: Wildly successful. Turns out that if you can perform well on the football field, absolutely no one cares if you do some genocide in your spare time.

Is it just me, or is the Presidential election cycle starting earlier and earlier? I mean since when do you hold Presidential primary debates before you’ve even had the preceding year’s general election? It was getting downright confusing for a while there, hearing people talking in the same breath about candidates that were running in different elections in different years. Nevertheless, the Presidential election cycle is upon us and people are talking about it and I find myself compelled to weigh in.

Wherever I go, people are abuzz with speculation and hype about this candidate or that – I hear this one’s pretty good, or that one sounds really conservative, or they say he’s a Christian – maybe he’s God’s man I’m sorry, but I wish that Christians and conservatives would get themselves an objective standard to measure things by rather than continually resorting to the subjective, emotional, gobbledygook guess work of I hear is; they say that; some think this; I feel that. I mean really, does anyone honestly believe this is how our nation’s founders conducted their business and made the decisions that determined the rise or fall of the nation?

If we must begin talking now about next year’s Republican Presidential prospects, then may I ask that we at least talk about them in relation to some sort of standard that we can measure them by. to that end, I would like to refer you to a series of ‘Constitutional Report Cards’ on the Republican Presidential debates that have been generated by Vision Forum Ministries, a ministry known and respected for their understanding of and commitment to Biblical Christianity and the original intent of our nation’s founding documents. at the time of this writing, report cards have been generated for six of the debates.

Admittedly, the report cards might not be a perfect representation of the candidates views as they are based on answers given in debates, which are not always complete answers as they are limited by time. Nevertheless, after reviewing six report cards, a definite pattern is beginning to emerge with the following grades being an average of the six report cards.

    • Rick Perry: D
    • Ron Paul: B
    • Michele Bachmann: C
    • Rick Santorum: F
    • John Huntsman: D-
    • Mitt Romney: F
    • Herman Cain: D (dropped out, but still relevant for comparison)
    • Newt Gingrich: F

These are the candidates grades as compared with a strict constructionist view of the U.S. Constitution – the document to which each of these candidates seek to pledge their oath of allegiance on Inauguration Day in 2013. With one exception, it’s hard for me to see why any Constitutionally minded Americans would be getting particularly excited about this field of candidates, unless of course you’re the type who revels in the animating contest of mediocrity.

Nevertheless, I hear the hints of excitement here and the allusions to conservative rhetoric emanating from a candidate there, as Christians and conservatives attempt to work themselves up to hope against hope that someone in this field will be able to carry the banner of ‘conservatism’ and save them from the feared and dreaded Obama monster.

As a Christian and a Constitutionist and as one who remembers what the tenets of conservatism used to be, I’m not inclined to get excited about any candidate for public office until I hear them addressing what I consider to be the Real Issues, e.g:

    • Audit, then abolish, the unconstitutional Federal Reserve.
    • Return to sound, Constitutional money backed by gold.
    • Abolish the IRS and put a stop to the misapplication of the income tax onto the wages of individuals.
    • Bring our troops home from any and all military actions around the world that are not part of a Congressional declaration of war.
    • Withdraw from the United Nations and remove the United Nations from the U.S.
    • End deficit spending, balance the budget and stop selling future generations into bondage.
    • Secure the borders and end illegal immigration.
    • Stop regulating U.S. businesses to death. stop rewarding corporations for moving overseas. Bring jobs – real jobs – manufacturing jobs – back to the U.S.
    • No corporate bailouts, no corporate buyouts and no corporate welfare.
    • Return the federal government to performing only those few functions enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution and begin dismantling every extra-Constitutional federal department, agency and program, the list of which would be too long to print here.
    • Wipe the slate of all previously issued executive orders (Presidential directives) and remind bureaucrats everywhere that nothing has the force of law unless Congress passed it, the President signed it and its authorized in the U.S. Constitution.

Those are just the few items that pop into my head without having to think very hard. I’m sure there are plenty more.

These are the issues that once served as the bedrock of conservatism and they are the issues that must be addressed if we are even half way serious about returning to a Constitutional form of government, preserving liberty and ever regaining any real prosperity.

I recently heard a presentation by independent, Constitutionally minded talk radio host, Sam Bushman. While addressing a group of Constitutionists, Sam recited a list of issues similar to the one above, then pointed out that ‘if they’re not talking about these issues, they’re not one of us.’

So I have to ask, of all the candidates running (and not just for President), even if they are running with an R after their name, or the title of Conservative bestowed upon them, how many of them are addressing these fundamental issues that determine freedom or oppression for we the people and spell life or death for our republic? all God honoring, freedom loving Americans who have any amount of appreciation for the principles that our nation was founded upon, need to be asking themselves this question – if a candidate is not publicly addressing these core issues and is not overtly proclaiming these most basic Constitutional policies, then are they really One of us? And if they’re not really One of us, then why would we waste our time, our money or our vote supporting them?

As A Constitutionalist, I’ve Got To Ask – Are They Really One Of Us?

Marcus Thornton scored 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and the Sacramento Kings opened the season in grand fashion, beating the Los Angeles Lakers at home for the first time in more than three years, 100-91 on Monday night.

Kobe Bryant scored 29 points for the Lakers, who opened the season with consecutive losses for the first time since 2002-03, putting a damper on the start of coach Mike Brown’s tenure.

“It’s not a rivalry,” Bryant said. “We beat them every year. Oh my God. I don’t care if they beat us tonight. I like (Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof). I hope they enjoy this.”

Kings rookie Jimmer Fredette entered to a loud ovation midway through the first quarter and then committed a double dribble the first time he touched the ball. he finished with six points.

Otherwise, it was nothing but a positive start to the season for the Kings. They went on an 11-0 run around halftime and then put together a strong finish to the third quarter led by DeMarcus Cousins. Playing with four fouls, Cousins scored eight points in the final 3:20 of the third to give Sacramento a 78-64 lead heading into the fourth.

“It was wild in there, and our players really liked the feeling of that game,” Kings coach Paul Westphal said. “The fans were just fantastic.”

Nuggets 115, Mavericks 93: Ty Lawson scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half and Denver faced little resistance in beating Dallas.

class=”bodytext”>The reigning champion Mavericks were drubbed at home for a second straight game, routinely giving up easy baskets in both. They allowed Denver to score 20 consecutive points in the second quarter — prompting boos during a particularly lousy part of that drought — and were down by 33 late in the third quarter.

One night after the Miami Heat pounded the Mavericks, the Nuggets scored on 19 of their 25 possessions in the second quarter.

Thunder 104, Timberwolves 100: Kevin Durant scored 33 points to lead Oklahoma City past host Minnesota.

Ricky Rubio of Spain had an impressive NBA debut for the Timberwolves with six assists, six points and five rebounds in 26 minutes.

The Timberwolves led 96-95 with three minutes to play when Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook drove the length of the floor, hit a layup and the free throw for a three-point play to put the Thunder ahead.

Blazers 107, 76ers 103: LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and seven rebounds to lead host Portland past Philadelphia.

Hornets 85, Suns 84: Eric Gordon made a 20-footer from the top of the key with 4.2 seconds to play in his new Orleans debut to push the Hornets past host Phoenix.

Gordon was part of the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Spurs 95, Grizzlies 82: Manu Ginobili scored 24 points as host San Antonio got some payback after its stunning playoff collapse last season, beating Memphis to start what could be Tim Duncan’s final season.

The Grizzlies upset the 61-win Spurs in the first round last season.

Raptors 104, Cavaliers 96: No. 1 draft pick Kyrie Irving out of Duke had a rough NBA debut for host Cleveland, scoring six points on 2-for-12 shooting.

TV ratings: the five Christmas games on opening day averaged 6.2 million viewers based on fast national ratings, up from 6 million last year. the Bulls-Lakers matchup was the third most-watched regular-season game ever on ABC.

Paul’s Clippers debut in the nightcap against the Warriors earned a 2.2 rating, up 69 percent over last year’s Portland-Golden State telecast in the same slot.
