Already expected to be the largest-ever initial public offering for an Internet company, Facebook is making its IPO even bigger.

The world’s largest online social network on Tuesday increased the planned price range for its stock to $34 to $38 per share in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. That’s up from its previous range of $28 to $35. at the upper limit of $38, the sale would raise about $12.8 billion.

The move, which values Facebook as high as $104 billion, comes amid growing investor excitement about the offering. Analysts are comparing the frenzy surrounding Facebook’s IPO to Google inc.’s in 2004, though in sheer size the latter pales in comparison.

At the same time, half of Americans think the expected value for Facebook inc. is too high, according to a new Associated Press-CNBC poll conducted before the company raised its expected stock price on Tuesday. only a third of those surveyed said they think Facebook’s expected value is appropriate.

Wall Street doesn’t share that sentiment.

“Demand is obscenely high,” said Scott Sweet the owner of advisory firm IPOBoutique about the offering. that said, he notes Facebook still has to be careful not to increase the price too much, so the stock still does well when it begins trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market, as expected, on Friday.

“This is a deal that literally must work, in that it is so high-profile,” he said. “It would really level the IPO market if Facebook flopped.”

As it stands, Facebook would be the fourth-largest U.S. IPO in history, edging out AT&T Wireless, whose 2000 IPO raised $10.6 billion according to Renaissance Capital, an IPO investment advisory firm.

The AP-CNBC survey, meanwhile, found that of average Americans who invest in the stock market, 58 percent think Facebook’s valuation is too high at around $100 billion. That’s larger than well-known companies such as Ford and Kraft but smaller than Google or Microsoft. About 3 in 10 investors called the expected value fair.

Price worries won’t necessarily stop would-be investors. Facebook raised the price range in response strong demand for its stock, and it’s possible that the stock could price even higher on Thursday.

The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company is offering 337 million shares in its IPO. of those, 157 million shares aren’t coming from the company, but from existing stockholders, including the company’s earliest investors and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Even after the offering, Zuckerberg will remain Facebook’s single largest shareholder. and he will control the company through 57 percent of its voting stock. Based on the high end of the price range, he’ll get about $1.15 billion from the stock he is selling.

The IPO is is expected to raise more than 10 times as much as the $1.67 billion raised in Google eight years ago. at a value of $38 per share, the high end of Facebook’s expected range, Facebook would generate $6.84 billion on its shares. Existing stockholders would collectively make $5.98 billion.

Even at the higher price range, it’s going to be tough for the company’s fans and everyday investors to get in on the IPO. Most of the shares are expected to go to people with connections to the company or those who have large, active accounts with the big banks or brokerage firms directly involved in the stock sale.

Facebook Raises IPO Price as Offering Nears

The cover of the latest Time magazine illustrates a story about 72-year-old pediatrician Dr. William Sears with a photo of a nearly 4-year-old boy standing and suckling at the breast of his 26-year-old mother.

Headline: “Are you mom enough?”

The story discusses Sears’ support of attachment parenting, a controversial approach to child development that promotes practices such as baby wearing (carrying a baby close in a slinglike cloth carrier), co-sleeping and, of course, breast-feeding.

The cover photo of Jamie Lynne Grumet, a slender California blonde, gazing at the camera nearly expressionless with her preschool-aged son perched at her bosom rocketed through social media circles on Thursday, may 10, with screeds, pleas and jokes in tow. Commenters are weighing in on all sides of related issues — parental rights, child advocacy and media sensationalism, to name a few.

“Time magazine” spent much of the day as a trending topic on Twitter and as a hot search on Google. The cover was also the talk of morning shows such as ABC’s “The View” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” where Time Editor-in-Chief Rick Stengel discussed the story and Sears.

“He wants you to spend every waking moment, and pretty much every sleeping moment, with your baby,” Stengel said.

“What about Octomom or the Duggars?” “The View” co-host Joy Behar quipped. “Are they supposed to sleep with all their children?”

Nancy Mohrbacher, an officer with the Chicago Area Breastfeeding Coalition, said the cover has sparked the wrong questions.

“The question is not are you mom enough, but is our culture family friendly enough,” Mohrbacher said. “The question is not how should we parent, but how do we support and value parenting in our society.”

“One of the reasons there can be a conflict with attachment parenting in our culture is we don’t have family-friendly environments. It’s not part of our culture. We’re expected to have a strict dichotomy between family and the rest of our lives.”

But is the Time cover attempting to promote those conversations, or just trying to stand out at a tough time for magazines? Or both?

“The point of a cover is to get your attention,” Stengel said on MSNBC, “and this gets your attention.”

Ways To Protect Our Hunting Rights

by on April 19, 2012

I was reading an article the other day that told a story of a prized quarter horse that was recently killed and left for dead by wolves in Montana. I actually saw the photos of the dead horse and it was like something out of a horror movie. the wolves had barely eaten one of his hind quarters and didn’t touch the rest of the meat. I can only imagine how angry the owner of that prized quarter horse must have been.

If you’re a hunter and you haven’t heard about the destruction that the wolves are causing to our big game herds in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho go ahead and do a google search on wolves in the Rockies. It will open your eyes.

So how can we protect our hunting rights and gun rights, which basically go hand and hand? there are several ways we can do our part. there are many great organizations out there that are fighting every day to protect our hunting and gun rights. I recommend joining as many groups as you can and keep your yearly renewals up.

Of course everyone has heard of the NRA. the NRA is the best organization when it comes to protecting our gun rights. that should be the first organization you join and you should always renew your membership with them so that you’re always a member. Ted Nugent has been a key player in bringing the NRA into the main stream media. we appreciate all you do Ted Nugent. Tell all your friends and family to join the NRA as well. Strength is built in numbers.

I would also join the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Mule Deer Foundation. These two great groups have become famous for helping our big game herds and the proof speaks for itself. the RMEF has transplanted more elk across America than any other entity in America and has helped our elk herds more than anyone else. They are an amazing group and I highly recommend joining them. the Mule Deer Foundation has also become famous for their part in protecting our mule deer herds from losing their habitat, being wiped out by predators and from the anti-hunters. I’ve met a few top people from these organizations and they’re good people.

These groups are on the front line everyday fighting to protect our gun and hunting rights and we owe them our support. there are millions of other people on the opposite side of the coin that are fighting everyday to take away our rights. They’re rich, powerful and not be underestimated. we all love hunting, shooting and our guns. It’s our passion. If we lose those rights it would be like losing a part of our souls.

Be safe and good hunting my friends.

Google Vector Marketing Cutco scam and you will get over 64,000 results. some are from angry employees. others are from college students who feel they got suckered. Problems and gripes abound. for my record, I am no longer an active Cutco representative. however, my six months of working for Vector has shown me that it is not a scam. Yet still, there are many people who are upset. so what’s the issue? I think that it is not that Vector is scam, but rather that people come into it with the wrong expectations.

What are the complaints that people have with Vector? One is that Vector makes you attend unpaid meetings. they also make you buy your own sample set of knives (mine cost $130). they also have you come into unpaid meetings once a week. You pay your own gas money when going to appointments. although they advertise $18/hour per appointment, you may not get paid on it unless the person you met with meets Vector’s qualifications. In short, Vector takes your time and your money.

This is not enough to make it a scam, and here we see the wrong expectations. most of the people who work for Vector are between the ages of eighteen and twenty. they have likely been working a minimum wage, or barely above, job. A job is when you do something for a certain amount of time and get paid a certain rate. When they start working for Vector, they expect more or less the same thing.

But Vector should not be thought of as job. Vector is more like a miniature businesses. When you work a businesses, you recognize that you must pay certain expenses. this is why you buy a sample set, pay your own gas, set your own meetings etc. If you know that you run a mini-businesses, you know that you will make this money back soon and quickly. so it is not that Vector is scamming you into buying their product at 70% off, it’s rather that you are expected to take some financial risk with Vector.

Additionally, Vector demands that you learn certain skills (this again is what makes it not a job.). this is why you go to the weekly meetings and the huge summer conferences. to work for Vector, you must be as willing to learn what they teach as you would be in any college classroom. In the same way that you do not get paid to learn in a classroom, you do not get paid to learn from Vector. The pay-off is more skills, more motivation, and more chances to sell and earn commission. It’s a sharpening of your ax, as my manager put it.

But despite these two things, there might be one way in which Vector is perhaps culpable of giving the wrong impression. they advertise that they are low pressure, and offer the base-pay and the lack of sales quotas as reasons why. this isn’t quite true. Considering the time it can take to get an appointment, drive time, and that hour with the customer, the base-pay is hardly a pay-off. If you don’t sell; you break even. secondly, the managers, while not harassing you, will motivate you to sell. this can feel like pressure if you’re in a bad mood. Anyone who works for Vector for longer than a month finds out that selling, not base-pay, is where the money comes from.

Please understand, this article is primarily a defense of Vector. I think that people cry scam had the wrong idea about it begin with. You can’t go into Vector with the same mentality that you go into Starbucks or Subway with. It takes a certain type of mentality and certain type of personality to do it well, and doing it well is the only way to do Vector Marketing.

Your Google sitemap can play a huge role in the overall success of your business. Search engine optimization and Google pretty much go hand in hand, and how you map your site is important to how it is ranked. each page should have its own individual identity, and it should be compelling enough to make readers want to know more, to spend longer on the page, and to tell their friends. Google Analytics is capable of measuring how well you are doing in all these areas. if you are not familiar of how Google site mapping works, then you need to be. but as you learn try not to forget the first cardinal rule of running a great site, and that is having great content.

Have a passion for the niche that you have chosen to work within. Once you are rolling out good content, it is important to name the page something descriptive of the contents found therein. Google’s bots favor pages that are descriptive. if you are giving the browser all the information that he needs upfront to click on your link, then you are well on your way to earning their visit. And if the content is compelling, then you will probably build a visitor for life, who is more than happy to share your links with their friends on social networking sites and help you grow, through virtual and/or real world word of mouth, your brand.

But once you get users to your page, you’ll also want to give them the tools that they need to get them to stay longer and move around to other parts of the site. how you internally link your web pages together, or map them, will play a huge role in the improved number of clicks and visits that you receive. instead of hyperlinking insignificant words, make sure that you hyperlink descriptive words, which will then encourage readers to click and read another page on your site. then another and another. the more Google site mapping that you can do in this regard, the better off that you will be over the long haul.

As search engine optimization kicks in, the bots will notice the high number of visits. They will notice the appropriate mapping. They will notice the time spent on each web page, as well as the amount of likes or dislikes that a web page receives. the better job that you are doing with content, the more likely your content will be pushed to the top for the keywords that you have selected. seeing how each web page works together for the overall ranking of the site, you can appreciate the importance of Google site mapping and search engine optimization.

Google Sitemap And Website SEO Strategy

Executive coach Randi Raskin Nash says that if you want to get things accomplished before the end of the year, you need to be smart about it. SMART is an acronym to keep in mind when setting goals, personal or professional. there are actually many effective variations for what it stands for, but here’s one that tried and true: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. A quick Google search will yield other variations (e.g., Significant, Motivating, Agreed Upon, Realistic, and Trackable) since SMART goal setting has been around for quite a while. however you spell it, it’s a great place to begin in working towards setting and achieving what matters most to you.

So how does SMART work? Here’s a look at the five parts of the goal-setting mnemonic:

Step one – Specific: Raskin Nash says the goals you set should be concrete and as specific as possible. for example, if you want to increase your sales, you should figure out a specific goal you want to achieve, like signing on four new clients (specific) who meet a certain criteria (spell out to be even more specific), not increase my client base (not specific).

Step two – Measurable: When setting your goal ask yourself, how will I know I’m on track, how will I know I’ve succeeded? That’s the Measurable part of your goal. for example, if you want to increase your networking contacts, promise to go to one new event a week for 2 months, and introduce yourself to at least five new people. That’s more measurable (and more specific) than just saying that you want to meet more people. Even better, consider measurable ways in which you will follow up with those new people to create win-win relationships.

Step three – Attainable: Be realistic. You’re setting yourself up for failure if you come up with a goal that is impossible to achieve, like losing 50 pounds in six weeks. Instead, come up with a goal like losing, say, 10 pounds over that time frame. the executive coach says, Don’t make it so attainable that you already have it, it’s a goal. so stretch, but know it’s possible so you can build momentum by achieving it.

Step Four – Relevant: Is this a goal that really matters to you? Is it relevant to your dreams, your vision, your values, your priorities? Raskin Nash says, if you’re going to take the time to set SMART goals for yourself, personally or professionally, make sure they’re really on point, really focused on what’s important to you.

Step Five – Time-Bound: Come up with a specific time frame to complete the goal. for example, Raskin Nash suggests using the time between now and the end of the year as a good time to position yourself and get specific goals off your to-do list and/or set yourself up for success in the New Year.

Here’s another variation of SMART. SMARTER: E for Evaluate and R for Redo if really needed. Periodically evaluate your goals to ensure they’re in line with your priorities, and, if not, redo them, but keep them SMART

‘Free ecards’ among top 10 trending topics for Google searches in the US

Free ecards might not seem like the height of romance but if Google is to be believed, they might be the go-to last-minute idea for people struggling to find the perfect way to say “I love you”.

Early this morning Google Trends showed “free ecards” as one of the biggest topics of searches in the US.

At number 9 – sandwiched between Barack Obama’s budget speech and Nicki Minaj – the budget gifts were beating “flower delivery”, “hearts” and more traditional “Valentine’s Day cards” as the swiftest way to someone’s heart.

But the most popular Valentine’s search term early in the day was “chocolate-covered strawberries” – a hopeful sign that romance isn’t quite dead yet.

The fact that Facebook has 40 times more users than Google+ could probably lead you to the assumption that Facebook is the all-time winner. But let’s consider the following points, why Google, the master company of web, could also become the leader of social networks:

1. Users’ contentment

Facebook updates its site regularly and many users conceive of these changes as pretty annoying. Numerous Facebook groups and sites underline that disaffection. for example look at the new chat and messaging system. unlike in the past, now you can’t separate your personal mails from your instant chat messages. Another point is the strange grouping of online contacts – offline contacts are shown in the chat bar.

How Google+ will handle updates and how the users’ reaction will be is unclear. Google+ is too young to make a prognosis. But according to our experience the Google changes are quite useful and unflashy.

One big feature of Google+ is the easy sorting of contacts (Groups). when adding a contact, you have to slide the contact into one of your groups (Google has some presets like Acquaintances, Family, Friends, Following).

It looks like Facebook felt threatened and instantly implemented a similar function: you add a contact -> choose a list where the contact should be in.

3. Video Chats – Hangouts

Since lately Facebook extended the chatsystem with a new video feature. Trying to make this feature work I failed completely. Now it seems to work fine and the quality is brilliant. no suprise.. Facebook uses a Skype integration.

Google+’ hangouts are similar to Facebooks, but there are some differences:

  • Google+ supports public hangouts – you can videochat with up to 10 people
  • Installation requires less clicks, so it’s a bit easier
  • Advanced hangouts support document and sketchpad sharing

4. interesting Content – Sparks

Add your interests and Google delivers related content from around the web. In my eyes: still pretty confusing

5. Network- Omnipresence

You can see Facebooks presence on almost every online device (PCs, Mobilephones, Tablets) in the world. Reason: nearly everybody uses it.

When companies advertise they don’t refer (as usually) to their homepage. More often you’ll find a Facebook.com/company link instead, which users can directly like and so share it with friends. Typical network effect.

And the last and most important (in my eyes) is:

Google’s presence isn’t as conspicuous as Facebook’s is. But the word Google is even listed in dictionaries. when someone is looking for stuff on the internet he is automatically googling. In the year 2000 Google reached 100 million searches a day, now they reach over one billion a day.

Further let’s take a look at what Google does besides:

  • GoogleMail
  • Chrome
  • Picasa
  • Blogger
  • Maps
  • Youtube
  • Android phones

So, when using one of these services you can get confronted with Google+ if you have a Google Account.

At the moment it’s hard to say that Google+ is the better network and will crush its competitor, Google+ is too young and hasn’t that many users. But if Google takes off the gloves, it can seriously establish as ultimate social network.

The full package of internet services Google offers could be the crucial point that will make the users switch the network. Let’s see.

Google+ Vs Facebook – Will Google+ Win?
