match

The rivalry between the Detroit Pistons and the Lakers can only be defined as a clash of two super powers of NBA. the first clash was in the finals in the year 1988. both the teams came to the final on a high note and the lovers of the game awaited a great match.

Undoubtedly the Lakers were the favorites to win the final, but it was not that easy for them. the first game itself proved that the Pistons are not an easy target. the Pistons won the first game by a fair margin and went on to take a lead of three games to two. the hard fought sixth game was won by the Lakers which paved the way for a classic seventh game. Unfortunately the Pistons lost the last game by a meager three points and the Lakers won their fifth championship in the 80s. In the very next year the Pistons bounced back strongly and as a sweet revenge they defeated the Lakers in the finals to claim their first ever NBA title.

This was a dream come true for the team and they proved why they are considered as one of the best teams in NBA. Joe Dumars who played as the point shooter was named as the NBA finals MVP. the very next year also they continued their winning run and successfully defended the title by defeating the Trail Blazers.

After the final of 1989, they had to wait till 2004 to meet the Lakers. this was also in the finals and just like old times the Pistons came to the scene with the label of underdogs. the first game was a thriller which was won by the Pistons, but the Lakers came back strongly to level the standings by taking the second game. the Pistons was able to overpower the Lakers with their game strategies and won their third NBA title.

The Filipinos were astounded on the last fight of our very own Filipino Champ Manny Pacman Pacquiao last may 7, 2011 with Shane Mosley. But, this coming November, it’s officially declared that Manny Pacquiao will face old rival and lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. The fight is planned to happen in MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This fight is incredibly awaited and eagerly planned by promoters. The HBO and Showtime is even two of the largest broadcasting company who will handle to televise the fight. But the big question is, with this third match of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, does our Filipino Champ Pacman gets the belt?

Los Angeles Times reported that Pacquiao and Marquez will fight at a welterweight catch weight of 144 pounds, with Marquez guaranteed with $5million. So, with this, can it increase the chances of our Filipino Champ. The first fight of Pacquiao and Marquez was said to be controversial. there was a judge who had admitted that he was mistakenly made an error on the scorecards. If it would have been known before the declaration of winner, it would be our Filipino Champ’s victory then.

The next fight was still controversial for our very own Pacman won via split decision. Two judges favored our Filipino Champ and only one to Marquez, but for the boxing analyst, they think it should have been Marquez victory. The fights of Marquez with Pacman made the team of Marquez more interested to declare another fight. But Pacquiao’s decision is firm not to fight with him again, maybe because of too much controversy accompanying their fight. Finally, the controversial fight is back on the ring again carrying same controversies and Pacman this time will prove them wrong and show the people his big punch to knock out Marquez and he will make sure this time will be their last and final fight.

According to Roger Mayweather, the uncle of Mayweather Jr., Pacman is a better puncher than the pound- for- pound king’s opponent which is Juan Michael Marquez. as what he had watched before, Marquez was knocked down by Pacman three times but good for him he was still able to force a draw. This would really be the most awaited event of the year. another match of Pacquiao and Marquez would bring every Filipinos into action. Pacquiao is Filipino’s pride and we can’t afford that our very own Filipino Champ will lose at this time.

We are all keen to watch every fight of Manny Pacquiao. he is our number one sport icon in the country. With all his achievements on boxing, no wonder he came this far. he is now a huge person compared to what he is before. he deserves to have all this blessings in life. We aim for your next victory Filipino Champ Manny Pacman Pacquiao. You are a magnificent boxer. take the country’s name again, make us proud more and continue to be one of the great icons in the world.

There’s nothing quite like a Game 7 in the playoffs.

And with the Lakers dropping Games 5 and 6 against Denver after opening a 3-1 series lead, Game 7 is what we get, promising to make for a raucous Saturday evening at STAPLES Center.

“It’s a one-game series, a final,” said Pau Gasol. “You win you move on, and the good thing is we play at home. we have to do whatever it takes to win.”

Everybody knows that Kobe Bryant will be ready – he dropped 31 points in Game 6 despite a bad case of gastroenteritis, only added to his legacy of always bringing it. but Gasol (three points, three rebounds) and Andrew Bynum (who did grab 16 rebounds) struggled to match Bryant’s energy, something that both bigs, Kobe, and really everybody else said is simply not acceptable in Game 7.

“we have to rely on aggressiveness, energy, owning every possession regardless of our experience,” added Gasol. “we have to want it more than they do.”

In franchise history, the Lakers have played 23 Game 7′s, going 15-8 in such contests (13-7 in Los Angeles, 2-1 in Minneapolis).

In Game 7 home games, however, the Lakers have been almost flawless, going 14-1 all-time (12-1 Los Angeles, 2-0 Minneapolis), the lone loss coming to Boston in the 1969 Finals (108-106).

The last Game 7 at STAPLES Center came in the 2010 NBA Finals against those same Celtics, with L.a. winning 83-79 behind a furious effort led by four starters that remain in purple and gold: Bryant, Gasol, Bynum and Metta World Peace, who returns to the fray after serving a 7-game suspension (and his teammates couldn’t be happier to have him back for such a winner-take-all game).

L.a. also won a home Game 7 against Houston in the 2009 Western Semi’s, in which they won easily, 89-70. the last Game 7 loss, and the only one of Bryant’s career, came at Phoenix in the 2006 first Round.

Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. – we’ll see you there.

One of the oldest team in the National Hockey League is the New York Rangers. they are one of the Original Six, the first teams in the league. The team was started in 1962. The New York Rangers is one of the teams to watch for. The first year the team played, they snagged the American Division title. Since then, the Ranger tickets have been selling.

The New York Rangers was the first team to have traveled by plane to go to their games. This was for their match with the Maple Leafs in 1929. The Rangers have four Stanley Cups that they can be proud of. they were the first American franchise to have won such an accolade. they won the first Cup in 1928. they bested the Toronto Maple Leafs for their second Cup in 1933. Despite having to travel abroad in 1940, the team managed to win their third Cup. The most recent win for the team was the Cup in 1994. With such performance, Rangers ticket sale has been unfaltering. even if the games were held abroad, the fans never failed to show their support to the team.

The time between the third and most recent Stanley Cup win of the team was known was the Curse of 1940. it was believed to be the result of the action of the management in 1940. The mortgage on the Madison Square Garden was burned in the 1940 Stanley Cup. In so doing, many believed the disrespect on the Cup has placed a curse on the team. however, winning the 1994 has broken the Curse of the 1940. The Rangers fans never failed to support the team despite the losing streak that they suffered from. The continued to patronize the Rangers tickets and maintained their attendance in the games.

The Rangers surely have made a comeback since then. With improvements in the player roster as well as the coaching staff, the team managed to capture the attention of many. The unending support of the fans helped out as well. Despite not winning another Cup, the Rangers never faltered in providing great games to watch for the fans.

The fans are even more elated in watching the games of the Rangers when they have acquired some of the more known players in the league. their rosters once held Wayne Gretzky, Theoren Fleury and Eric Lindros’s names. The team has continued to show their potential on the ice. Fans and enthusiasts alike cannot wait to watch the team do their best on the ice again.

The fact that the Skyline girls golf team broke its course record by more than 20 strokes last week should have made it Skyline’s match, but the win went to the visiting Eastlake Wolves, who bested their host by three strokes.

It happened April 24 at The Plateau Club, home turf of the Skyline Spartans. They play the par 36 nearly every day, and at the match managed a 249. but Eastlake had a better day, coming in at a 246.

After the match Erik Hanson, Skyline’s coach, told his team that the worst thing about golf is that even when you do well there is always something bad to think about.

“This is a really legit golf course and for us to come in and shoot a 249 is great,” he said. “I tell the girls they are always playing against themselves…It was win, win.”

With only a few players still finishing up the match, the coaches began tallying the score. Having broken their own course record, it looked like Skyline was a shoo-in. but that all changed when Eastlake’s no. 5 player, Kelsey Maki signed her score card. With 57 strokes it pushed the Wolves into first.

“I had no idea. Normally I don’t score so that was exciting,” said Maki. “I had a bad round yesterday so I just wanted to play better than I did.”

The day before Eastlake had hosted Newport at Sahalee golf course, par 36, and lost with a score of 261.

“It was the difference of the match,” said Eastlake coach Pat Bangasser. “This is a team sport and sometimes we forget that.”

Eastlake started off strong with its no. 1 player Jamie Midkiff birdying the first hole. The bumpy par-4 challenges players with its fairway that looks like a giant’s collection of holiday ornaments with several hundred yards of green carpet laid over them. On hole six, a par-3 with a miniature canyon and thorn-clad bushes separating the tee box from the green, Midkiff’s drive landed five feet from the pin. With both team’s coaches looking on, she sank the putt for her second birdie of the day. Having shot a 48 Monday, Midkiff came back Tuesday to improve seven strokes for a score of 41.

“We focus a lot on staying in the present. Forget yesterday, forget the last shot,” said Bangasser. “You just have to be mentally tough, positive and optimistic regardless of what’s going on.”

The day’s second top-scorer was Megan Wotherspoon. The senior at Eastlake High School lives on The Plateau Club’s back nine and started out on the course when she was 3-years-old with plastic clubs. Having graduated to irons and woods, Wotherspoon shot a 43 that day, parring both par 5’s on the front nine.

“I get nervous with the par 5’s here because they are long and there are hazards on both sides so it s a relief to get on the green in three and par them,” she said. “I’m here a lot. I’m comfortable and know it but every day is different.”

While it was a day of team bests, it was also a day of personal bests on that particular course for several of the Skyline golfers. Layla Hiramoto shot a 51 to improve on her personal best by two strokes. Shirly Chung shot a 49 and Brya Vowels finished with a 47. Emma Farno plays in Skyline’s no. 3 position, but on April 24 she shot a 47 for her personal best and tied with varsity no. 1, Vowels, for the match’s third place. Farno said that it was around the seventh hole when she realized she could set a new record for herself.

“I had it added up in my head,” she said. “I got a little nervous, especially on the tee shots. I was afraid I’d get it out on the lateral hazards.”

It was also a day of improvement for Eastlake’s no. 4 player, Amulya Cherala. She shot a 63 during the match against Newport before shooting a 53 on Tuesday against Skyline. The consistent putter who averages around 18 putts for every nine holes, birdied hole no. 4, a par 4, on April 24 with a 25-foot putt.

“It felt like I could go home happy after that one shot,” she said. “I felt like I was definitely focused.”

Eastlake and Skyline players will not face off again until the KingCo girls varsity golf championship on may 8.

Winter is a season when families usually stay at home. most people might think that it is the worst season to exchange vows. but that is exactly the opposite. you can turn a dreary winter into the most wonderful wedding experience. All you need to do is to embrace the winter spirit rather than trying to imitate summer or spring.

A winter themed wedding would only be effective if there is consistency in terms of design. but most importantly, the table centerpiece must observe the winter theme. Otherwise, the whole winter themed wedding would be pointless. most couples find it very hard to look for the perfect winter themed centerpiece. most of them end up spending more than necessary. here are some ideas to help couples choose a winter themed centerpiece.

Your centerpiece should match the design of the whole reception area. One thing that must be avoided is placing centerpieces that are fit for other seasons other than winter. This includes the most common table centerpiece – flowers. It should be noted that flowers are ideal for summer and spring weddings. Since there are no flowers during winter, it would be awkward to include them in the design; or worse, make them your centerpiece.

Items that are made of glass are perfect winter themed centerpieces. even fish bowls would make good centerpieces. Floating candles would make beautiful table centerpieces. you can achieve this by filling a glass bowl with water. then, attach the candles on a flat surface and let it float in the water.

Other great winter centerpieces are snowmen and frozen trees. then, you can attach colored papers with quotes on the branches of the tree or arms of the snowman. For a warmer touch, you can use pine cones as your centerpiece. although it is quite costly, ice statues make the best table centerpiece

Winter Wedding Centerpieces – Create a Winter Wonderland

Before we go any further here, I want to congratulate Kevin Harvick and all the rest of Richard Childress racing for a well-earned 2010 Sprint Cup Championship. As we all know, Harvick beat Jimmy Johnson by 285 points, talking the title from Jimmy Johnson, who won his second championship last year.oh wait, none of it happened that way, did it?? That’s right, thanks to Nascar’s obsessive tinkering, JJ has won his 5th in a row. and for all of the sanctioning body’s gyrations and the breathless hype from their talking head sycophants they still could not match what would have happened using the old point system in 2006, when Jimmy Johnson would have beaten Matt Kenseth by a whopping 4, that’s right, 4 points. in 2008, again with the old system, Carl Edwards would have beaten the intrepid JJ by a mere 16 points. the point is that there would have been some very compelling and memorable point battles (albeit all of them including the currently unbeatable #48) without attempting to force the sport to mimic stick and ball sports with some form of ‘post season.’

In Nascar’s defense, they are in a bit of a predicament, some of it is their own doing, some of it is the world they live in. in becoming the dominant racing sanctioning body in the country and one of the most important in the world, Nascar has also become a huge monster that requires tens of millions of dollars a year to feed itself. the revenue the tracks generate through traditional ticket sales, concession stands, etc, can’t even begin to pay today’s purses, after the track overheads are taken out. the sport would wither and die without the millions generated from television, plain and simple. and, what is also plain and simple is.that torrent of revenue is directly related to how many people, especially in that holy grail of the 18-35 demographics, are watching.

Many of those folks are not the so-called ‘traditional’ race fan, as quite a few of the rest of us might fancy ourselves as being. they do not personally go to many races at all and don’t have a clue as to where their local short track might be.or even what it is, for that matter. As far as they are concerned, a driver’s career begins when he or she enters one of Nascar’s three ‘television divisions’. they are quite likely to be very internet savvy, and might well spend a fair amount of time posting in chat rooms and on forums their opinions about a sport that they know virtually nothing about. at least one a week I go to the sports illustrated site and look at what their writers are saying on the auto racing pages. It’s a window into how ‘everyone else’ sees our sport and if Nascar is not paying attention there they ought to be. While you and I might accept what the sanctioning body has pounded into our heads, that essentially being; now don’t you go and get yourself all worked up about what we do, you just sit back and accept it and be happy, outside the bubble, folks do not see it that way. what THEY see, is a paranoid, secretive organization that might well be tinkering with the outcome of its races. and guess what, they would be right, and that does not help matters either. See, we all know about magic pixie dust yellow flags. Or lack thereof. There is this unreal disconnect between the first 50 laps of a race, and the last 10. Ever noticed how easy it is to bring out the yellow between, say, laps 30-50? right where the so-called competition yellows are when Goodyear has failed yet again in tire construction.

Even if the tires are performing as designed, the slightest hint of any sort of in track issue, the slightest brush against the wall, maybe a half spin, a plastic cup on the track for God’s sake. and poof, out comes the yellow. We see this all the time. However.with 5 laps to go, with drivers fighting for the lead, the very same event that would trigger a yellow anytime during the previous whatever number of laps there were now, with just a few laps to go brings.nothing. in fact, we routinely see cars pounding the wall, crap flying everywhere, and then hear.we stay green. Nascar either thinks we are all, A-blind, B- idiots, Or C- it does not matter, we will all still keep watching (and spending money with Nascar) anyway. I’ll give you a hint which one Nascar believes. now while you and I know all of this, we simply bitch about it and accept it, we put the sport we love ahead of the arrogance of Nascar and to make the classic quote of my heritage, we fuggettaboutit. but to the stick and ball contingent, and a large portion of the gold-plated 18-35 demographic, it seems as if Nascar is manipulating the outcome of its races, la professional wrestling.

And heaven forbid if one of its drivers calls Nascar out on this weekly magic pixie dust yellow dog and pony show. the aforementioned 18-35 demographic is where most of Nascar’s stars happen to be, and they are also very savvy with modern social media. Nascar’s reflexive iron fist smashing of Denny Hamlin’s pointing out the obvious in a tweet earlier this year, that being everyone knows Nascar bunches the field up with fake yellows all the time, completely shut off one of the very few ways the stars can and were connecting on a personal basis with the very group Nascar so desperately is courting with their chase antics. thanks to Nascar, it’s one that its stick and ball competitors now have completely to themselves.

Another example of the disconnect Nascar has with the couch potato’s it craves was Juan Pablo Montoya’s alleged ‘speeding penalty’ at this year’s Brickyard 400. not to mention the one Harvick was assessed with at Homestead that directly affected the outcome of the chase itself. the stick and ball scribes pointed out the obvious, that this call comes down out of the ivory tower of the booth..i.e. Nascar, as a decree. No-one has ever actually seen what a pit road speeding penalty looks like, as it happens have you? I haven’t. I’ll bet Richard Childress hasn’t either. There are no cameras in the booth and Nascar does not choose to share the telemetry. again, this is completely unlike its stick and ball competition, where everything is open and transparent. These two pit road speeding events have something for everybody. Let’s take the seasoned race fan. See, there are some folks who know that Nascar really does not care for Indy car racing one bit, and is very much aware that USAC attempted to strangle Nascar back in its earlier days.

Not to mention its stars dropping in and winning its biggest races seemingly at will. Throw in that Chip Ganassi is not the most likable person in the garage area, then season with Montoya being one of those, well, you know, not from here. looking at it all through those eyes, an Indy star, a foreign-born one at that, with an Indy car owner, winning the sports second largest race deep in the heartland was something that just would not do, now would it? Some folks might further think that, with Montoya being one of the world’s greatest drivers, with the race in the bag, his radio screaming, watch your speed, watch your speed, would not behave like a 16-year-old street stock driver at a local bullring and blow the last pit stop.and Nascar’s last chance to rob him of the win should not be factored in at all. then flash forward to Homestead, and you then have a different set of circumstances working on yet another game changing speeding penalty.

This particular conspiracy theory says that Nascar wanted Jimmy Johnson to win a fifth championship for some unknown reason(s), and, since everyone knows that it’s impossible for one team to win 5 straight championships in the age-old way, by being better than everyone else, and understanding the current system and how to play it better than everyone else, Nascar must be secretly aiding and abetting the evil Hendrick empire. So, carrying this out means cutting Kevin Harvick’s chances out from under him. the minor detail that Harvick took over the ride of Nascar’s most beloved personality, and the hype of Richard Childress racing returning to championship form would be off the Richter scale, is lost in the shouting of rigged, fixed, Nascar sucks, Johnson sucks, Chad cheats.whaaa, whaaa, natter, natter, emanating from couches, computer screens, bar stools, etc across the land. and the thing is, looking at the two above examples and taking the entire season and sport as a package, who can blame them? like the Shoguns and Samurai’s of Feudal Japan when Commodore Perry sailed into Tokyo Bay in 1853, Nascar can no longer pretend and act as if they are alone in the world, omnipotent, all knowing.and oh so trustworthy. not if they want that money river to keep flowing. There are real issues that Nascar had better address, and soon. the next column will provide some solutions, stay tuned.

The Weekends NFL Scores 2011 kicked off on Thursday where the Eagles headed west to face the Seattle Seahawks in a must win game if they had any chance of getting into the NFL Playoffs.

The dream of getting to the playoffs hit a roadblock in the form of the Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch who terrorised the Eagles defence with a 148 yard and 2 touchdown performance on their way to a 31-14 victory.

The loss for the Eagles effectively stopped any hopes of the Eagles getting into the Playoffs and could end Andy Reid’s tenure as head coach after the money spent during the off season.

Moving onto Sundays NFL Scores and the biggest game of the weekend when the undefeated Green Bay Packers travelled to new York to face the Giants and the match was decided on the final play of the game.

The Giants had tied the game with under a minute to go when Eli Manning hit Nicks for a touchdown and D.J Ware scored the 2 point conversion. however Aaron Rodgers manufactured a drive to get his team in field goal range and Mason Crosby hit a 31 yarded to win the game 38-35 as time expired.

With the win the Packers moved to 12-0 whilst the Giants moved to 6-6 after their 4th loss in a row but are only 1 game back from Dallas in the NFC East who lost 19-13 away at the Arizona Cardinals.

Shaquille O’Neal revealed on the Abe Kanan show yesterday that he is in talks with the WWE for a big marquee match at Wrestlemania 28 against The Big show.

The biggest event on the wrestling calendar will take place April 1st, 2012 at the Sun Field Stadium in Miami, Florida and it is believed that Vince McMahon has been looking for a big celebrity to compete in a match that will fill out the card.

Of course a potential Shaquille O’Neal vs The Big show match at Wrestlemania brings memories of the match Floyd Mayweather Jr and The Big show had almost four years ago at Wrestlemania 24 that drew huge business after large media attention. despite not being the main event of the show, in that particular year no match was more hyped or sold more buys. O’Neal vs The Big show, while it won’t do as much business because O’Neal isn’t as big a draw as Mayweather, especially as he doesn’t come from boxing into wrestling, could have huge potential.

Wrestlemania 28 is to be headlined by The Rock vs. John Cena in an Icon vs Icon match. Heavily expected as the second main event is The Undertaker vs. Triple H in a rematch from last year. Depending on whether talks with Chris Jericho and WWE have gone well, he is likely to challenge for the WWE Title against CM Punk in the third main event. once you have slotted in the O’Neal vs The Big show match and possible matches for Kane, Rey Mysterio and Mick Foley that have all been talked about and very quickly you have a Wrestlemania card whose main event talent (with the exception of John Cena and CM Punk) haven’t worked full yearly schedules.

LOS ANGELES — “Bachelorette” Ali Fedotowsky and fiancé Roberto Martinez have called off their engagement after more than a year together, her rep said Monday.

“Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez have ended their relationship. as they go through this difficult time, we ask that you respect the couple’s privacy,” a statement read.

But in October of this year, rumors emerged that their love had turned sour when they postponed their wedding date.

“We are still figuring out our lives as individuals,” she added.
